Garden Views

Rosie Brown’s garden is an inviting place.  It includes the normal things found in a garden, lawn, flowers, vegetables

and patio but also has the additional features of a grandchildren play area, raised vegetable/ flower boxes and a turtle run

for the two pet turtles, Mack (short for Macadamia) and Casey who help control the snail population.  Rosie and her

husband Dave have lovingly developed this garden since moving to their new house 8 years ago.  Rosie uses her gardening

time for uninterrupted thinking and meditation.  She especially enjoys the amount of sun this garden has compared to the

shady yard at her previous home.  Her favorite flower, the Shasta Daisy, has recently been replaced by the artichoke

flower seen below.

Lou Jean Thomason’s garden is a delight!  About 4 years ago she and her husband replaced the struggling sod yard with wandering paths and flower beds.  Now her garden features a multitude of plants and items that remind her of her late husband.  She has used such things as an old crab trap and antlers to display a variety of plants as well as a fish scale to hang a plant from.

Her favorite plant? – Rose of Sharon as seen below left.  Lou Jean says working in her garden for about ˝ hour a day serves as her therapy.  Her biggest problem? – the local wildlife (raccoons, Possums & squirrels, her dogs who chase the wildlife and discarding a volunteer plant(like the Japanese Maples that come up from seed).
